The LFC Heat faced some tough competition in an exciting run to the Championship at the Hunt Country Classic. The Heat made it into the Semi-Finals against a Chantilly team who was 9-0 in league play this season while only allowing 1 goal. Chantilly had continued to shutout the competition in the tournament until Sydney Ryan knocked in the Heat’s game winner off an assist by Shreyaa Venkat, to send us into the Finals with a 1-0 victory.
In the Finals the Heat faced a Braddock Road team who had beaten them badly the day before, 4-0. The Heat maintained their confidence and tightened up its defensive posture. Late in the second half Lindsay Staub hit a left footed shot from outside the box that slid under their diving goalkeeper. The Heat kept the pressure on and stifled Braddock Road’s attack to bring home the trophy with a 1-0 victory.
Congrats to the Heat and our guest players from the Strikers, this was a well deserved and earned Championship for LFC!!
