Loudoun County-based soccer club set to kickoff 2017-18 tryouts at Morven Park’s World Class Fields. Eighteen teams ready to #ProtectThePark
April 28, 2017 – Leesburg, VA – Leesburg Football Club (LFC), a local Loudoun County soccer club formed in 1998, is very proud to announce their move to Morven Park for the 2017-18 soccer season and beyond. LFC will kick off events at their new home the weeks of May 15 and 22 with club-wide tryouts for next season on Morven Park’s pristine bermudagrass and cool season grass fields.
LFC teams ranging from U-9 to U-18 are a mixture of boys’ and girls’ teams competing predominantly in the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) with some playing in the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL), and offer a cost-effective and competitive approach in the growing travel soccer world. Teams across all age groups and genders are looking for players to fill existing teams for the 2017-18 season and are ready to showcase another key cornerstone to our continued growth: Morven Park’s Athletic Field Complex.
LFC and Morven Park recently signed an annual usage agreement that will make LFC the first anchor tenant to use Morven Park’s athletic fields on a full-time basis. “It is exciting times for Leesburg FC to be able to call Morven Park home,” said Chas Sumser, president of LFC. “We are looking forward to having all our teams practice and play on the nicest grass surfaces in the area, and we couldn’t have partnered with an organization that better shares the same family and player values as we do than Morven Park.”
In celebrating the newly formed partnership, LFC will be conducting special tryouts for all their teams at Morven Park’s Athletic Field Complex during the weeks of May 15th and 22nd. “It’s an excellent opportunity for any family and player to attend tryouts, to meet our coaches, players and parents while enjoying the beauty of Morven Park’s athletic fields and surroundings,” Sumser concluded.
Anyone interested in finding out more about the upcoming tryouts can visit LFC’s website at www.leeesburgfc.com and click on the Teams/Academy tab to see teams listing or register for the tryouts at www.leesburgfc.com/register.
In addition to the Athletic Field Complex, visitors come to Morven Park to enjoy exquisite scenery, hiking trails, formal boxwood gardens, the Morven Park International Equestrian Center, and the iconic Greek Revival mansion. Morven Park was once the home of Thomas Swann, Jr., governor of Maryland during the Civil War, as well as the home of Westmoreland Davis, governor of Virginia during WWI.
